Welcome to the Siskiyou Artists Association (SAA) web site. We are a congenial group of Northern California artists who meet regularly to exchange ideas and learn more about visual arts.

SAA supports local artists by providing critiques and demonstrations at monthly meetings, workshops, and an annual show in late summer at the Mount Shasta Sisson Museum. Each year the association also awards scholarships to local graduating high school and college art students.

SAA's 53rd Annual Art Show Open August 14 - September 7

SAA's 53rd annual show opened on Saturday, August 14, at the Sisson Museum in Mount Shasta. Show judge Andrea Ciaston selected Victor Medrano's oil landscape entitled "McCloud Falls" (below) as Best of Show. Congratulations, Victor!

The show features 85 works by local artists, including oil paintings, acrylic paintings, pastel paintings, drawings, water media, mixed media, and 3-D art. Awards were presented for each medium category plus special awards by subject. Many of the artworks are for sale, and part of the proceeds from each sale is donated to our scholarship fund. In addition, a silent auction of small artworks is offered to raise funds for annual scholarships to local art students.

September Meeting - Art Critique

The next meeting on September 19, 2010 will feature an artwork critique by Dorthea Schoenstein. Members and guests are encouraged to bring a painting, drawing, or 3-D artwork for our critique artist's assessment. Please bring your artwork to the meeting at the Lake Shastina Community Center by 1:30 p.m. The business meeting will begin at 2:00 p.m. followed by the critique.
