Painting, from Photo to Finish with Eloise Larson

When: March 10, 2012, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Where: Lake Shastina Community Center
Cost: $35 for SAA Members; $30 for Students

Participants in this workshop will create a painting from the ground up using a photo as a subject. Working in chalk, the image is first transferred to paper. To form the image, transparent layers of color are then applied. Finally, opaque highlights are added, completing the work. Students are welcome to work in acrylic paint, watercolor, or Prismacolor colored pencils. Attendees will further their understanding of color and technique, and will create a new piece of art!

Our presenter, Eloise Larson (MFA from University of Alaska, Fairbanks), is a member of the Siskiyou Artist Association. Eloise is an inspirational teacher with 35 years of teaching experience in various schools including Fairbanks Public Schools, University of Alaska, and COS. Currently, she teaches an Artist Mentor Group at her studio in Hammond Ranch. There, she enables her students to grow confidently into a style of their own. Her exhibit "The Great Ocean," a collaborative work with Nickki Hill, opens on February 24 from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. at Liberty Arts Gallery in Yreka and continues through March 31.
